Shingle Repair
Asphalt shingles are sealed to each other in strips. Strong wind can break that seal, lift a tab and tear it loose, and once a few go, the ones around them are easier to lose next time. Bare spots leave the underlayment, and then the decking, open to rain.
We replace missing, torn and lifted shingles with the closest match available, reseal the area and check the shingles around it. Older shingles fade, so a small color difference at first is normal.
If shingles are brittle, curling or losing granules across the whole roof, repairs won’t hold for long. Then it’s worth talking about a roof replacement.

Rhode Island weather
Weather is behind most of the problems we hear about.
🌬️
Wind off Narragansett Bay and the South County shore can lift and peel shingles loose.

Wind-driven rain looks for any gap, especially at flashing around chimneys, walls and vents.
🧊
Snow that melts on a warm roof and refreezes at the cold eaves can back water up under the shingles.
🌊
Near the coast, salt spray is hard on exposed metal like flashing and fasteners.

We use the closest match available. Older shingles fade, so a small color difference is normal and usually blends over time.
It can be. A bare spot lets water reach the underlayment and decking, and the shingles around it are easier to lose in the next storm.
That depends on your policy. We’ll give you our own estimate, which you can share with your insurer. We’re roofers, not public adjusters.
